Bharat Kumar Reddy Poluri of Telangana emerges victorious in Krishna Gopal Kapoor Memorial International Rating chess tournament

Telangana’s Bharat Kumar Reddy Poluri emerged as the champion of the Krishna Gopal Kapoor Memorial International Rating chess tournament held at the Ganges club in Kanpur. With an impressive performance, Bharat clinched the title by accumulating 8 points after nine rounds.

In the final round, Bharat faced off against West Bengal’s Arpan Das and displayed superior tactical skills in a French Defense variation, securing victory and claiming the top spot. His state mate Kartavya Anadkat also put up a strong performance, finishing in third place with 7.5 points.

Naitik R Mehta and Sudhanshu Ranjan also had notable victories in the tournament, showcasing their skills and finishing with 8 and 7 points respectively. The event saw intense competition with players from various states showcasing their talent on the chessboard.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where Dr Sanjay Kapoor, President of FIDE India Zone 3.7, presented the winners with their cheques and trophies. The event was a testament to the growing popularity of chess in India and the talent that exists in the country’s chess community.
