Recently, her life and achievements were showcased in the documentary The Queen of Chess, and she was elected a member of Christ’s College at the University of Cambridge.
“She earned the respect surrounding her not through political affiliation or personal connections, but through exceptional talent, hard work, integrity, and extraordinary perseverance,” Magyar stated, adding that it would be “a great honour” if Polgár accepted his invitation.

Magyar’s announcement comes on the heels of an open letter signed by 16 prominent figures from various fields—including science, culture, and sports—who recommended Polgár for the presidency. Notable signatories include inventor Ernő Rubik, mathematician László Lovász, and Olympic fencing champion Tímea Nagy. They argued that Hungary needs a president capable of bridging political divides and embodying national unity during this critical constitutional transition.
Parliament Will Make the Final Decision
