Russian Chess Champion Allegedly Poisons Rival with Mercury: Security Camera Footage Captures Shocking Incident

Russian chess champion Amina Abakarova has shocked the chess world by allegedly poisoning her younger rival, Umayganat Osmanova, with mercury during a tournament. The incident, caught on security camera footage, shows Abakarova pouring mercury near Osmanova’s board, causing her to become ill with severe dizziness and nausea.

Abakarova, who confessed to the act, cited personal hostility towards Osmanova as her motive. The two competitors have a long-standing rivalry, with Osmanova recently beating Abakarova in a regional contest. Despite the poisoning, Osmanova continued to participate in the tournament and even won a prize.

The Minister of sport in Dagestan condemned Abakarova’s actions, stating that they could have had tragic consequences for everyone present. Abakarova now faces charges of intentional infliction of bodily harm and could be sentenced to up to three years in prison if convicted.

Friends of Abakarova claim that her behavior is completely out of character, as she is an experienced competitor who has previously won championships. The chess community is shocked by this incident, as both players are respected figures in the chess world.

Osmanova is pressing for maximum punishment for Abakarova, who works as a chess coach and teaches at a school in Makhachkala. The chess world is reeling from this scandal, as the normally peaceful game of chess has been marred by this shocking act of aggression.
