National Communications Academy Established by Merger of DoT’s Training Institutes

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has taken a significant step towards streamlining its training institutes by merging three key entities into a single administrative body. The National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT), the National Institute of Communication Finance (NICF), and the Wireless Monitoring Training & Development Centre (WMTDC) have now been consolidated into the newly formed ‘National Communications Academy’ (NCA).

The decision to merge these institutes was approved by the Minister of Communications (MoC) based on the recommendations of the Committee for Organisational Reforms. This move aims to enhance efficiency, coordination, and effectiveness in the training and development of professionals in the telecommunications sector.

With immediate effect, the NCA will serve as a unified platform for providing specialized training, policy research, innovation, and financial expertise in the field of telecommunications. This consolidation is expected to bring about synergies and create a more cohesive approach towards capacity building in the industry.

The establishment of the National Communications Academy marks a significant milestone in the evolution of training and research institutions under the DoT. It reflects the government’s commitment to fostering excellence and innovation in the telecommunications sector, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the industry as a whole.
