Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Felicitates Chess Grandmaster Tania Sachdev for Gold Medal Win at Chess Olympiad 2024

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi recently honored chess Grandmaster Tania Sachdev for her outstanding performance in the 45th Chess Olympiad 2024, where the Indian team secured a gold medal. Atishi commended Sachdev for her achievements and her role in inspiring young talent in Delhi.

In a tweet, Atishi praised Sachdev as a proud Delhiite and a role model for aspiring chess players. She highlighted the importance of having inspirational figures like Sachdev to motivate the youth, especially young girls, to strive for excellence in sports.

The Delhi government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent was also emphasized, with over 2,000 students participating in chess tournaments and 65 receiving specialized training at Chhatrasal Stadium in the 2024-25 period. Through initiatives like the Cash Incentive Scheme and Mission Excellence, the government has invested Rs 98 crores since 2018 to support athletes across various sports disciplines.

Atishi expressed optimism for Sachdev’s continued involvement in shaping the future generation of chess champions in Delhi. The recognition of Sachdev’s contributions serves as a reminder of the importance of role models in inspiring young athletes to reach their full potential.
