Make A Move LA’s Summer Jam promises to be a one-of-a kind event that you won’t want to miss! Are you a chess enthusiast or know someone who is? Make sure to mark your calendars for August 3rd from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for this exciting event.

In collaboration with former L.A. Clippers player Baron Davis and his S.L.I.C (Sports Lifestyle in Culture) Studios, Make A Move L.A. is bringing a unique summertime event to the community. Executive director Jerimiah Payne expressed his excitement for the collaboration, stating that the shared goal of strengthening the community through entertainment made for an ideal partnership.

Established in January 2022, Make A Move L.A. is a nonprofit organization focused on the arts, chess, and community engagement initiatives. What started as a chess tournament in South Central has grown into a global movement that brings communities together through the game of chess.

The Summer Jam event will feature a dual tournament for both adults and youth, a halftime show with comedians, singers, poets, and dancers, as well as entertainment from DJ Getchamoney. Celebrity trumpeter Tatiana Tate will also be in attendance, adding to the excitement of the event.

In addition to the chess tournament, Make A Move L.A. will be giving away loaded backpacks filled with school supplies for children in need, as well as providing food and drinks for attendees. Even if you don’t want to compete in the tournament, you can still come out and enjoy the festivities.

Make A Move L.A. is always looking to expand its reach and impact, and they are open to partnerships, collaborations, sponsorships, and donations to help further their mission of electrifying the world through chess and the arts.
