World Cadet Chess Championship 2024 Draws Players from 82 Countries to Italy

The World Cadet Chess Championship 2024 has kicked off in Montesilvano, Italy, with a record-breaking participation of 716 players from 82 countries. Sponsored by WR Logistics, this prestigious event is being held at the Congress Center Pala Dean Martin, providing a spacious and ideal setting for the global chess competition.

Players competing in the U8, U10, and U12 age groups, in both open and girls categories, are enjoying the convenience of being just a five-minute walk away from the playing hall, as all official hotels are located nearby. This arrangement not only benefits the participants but also ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

For the first time in the championship’s history, all boards are live, with games broadcasted via DGT chessboards. Additionally, the organizers have set up a live-streaming option on their official YouTube channel, allowing viewers worldwide to follow the action in real-time.

To enhance the overall experience, a dedicated parents’ zone, game analysis spaces, and chess-related items such as books and accessories have been provided, making the event more engaging for players and their families. The tournament is supported by a team of 31 arbiters and 3 fair play arbiters, working diligently to ensure a fair and smooth competition.

The opening ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Luigi Maggi, President of the Italian Chess Federation, and GM Roberto Mogranzini, General Director of the tournament. Ambassadors from three countries made the ceremonial first moves, symbolizing the global unity of chess.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes are on these young prodigies shaping the future of chess. Stay tuned for updates and thrilling games from this grand event! For more information, visit the official website at worldcadetschess2024.com.
