Elevate Your Summer Road Trips: Over 200 New Apps for GM Vehicles with Google Play!

Summer Drives in Your GM Vehicle Get an Upgrade with 200+ New Apps on Google Play and More Passenger Entertainment

June 24, 2026 — As summer road trip season kicks off, General Motors (GM) is enhancing the driving experience with exciting new features for its vehicles. Thanks to OnStar connectivity and the latest software updates, GM vehicles equipped with Google built-in can now access over 200 new apps on Google Play directly from the center display. This upgrade promises to make every mile more enjoyable for drivers and passengers alike.

Entertainment for Everyone

With the addition of front and rear passenger screens in GM SUVs, the entertainment options have expanded significantly. Passengers can now enjoy a vast catalog of movies, shows, songs, podcasts, and live radio and TV channels, allowing everyone to curate their own watchlists and playlists. Whether it’s a family road trip or a getaway with friends, no one has to compromise on content.

Park and Recharge

When parked, drivers can explore a wide range of streaming, gaming, and interactive content on the center display. From binge-watching the latest series to diving into a crossword puzzle or catching up on a live sports game, the options are endless. Popular titles from streaming services like Dish Anywhere are now just a tap away, along with engaging games like solitaire and chess.

Entertainment in Motion

For those traveling in GM’s premium SUVs, the fun doesn’t stop when the vehicle is in motion. A robust lineup of streaming services, including AMC+, Disney+, Hulu, Tubi, and YouTube, will keep passengers entertained throughout the journey. Upcoming additions like Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, and Spotify will further enhance the listening experience, ensuring a diverse mix of stations and playlists for every taste.

Availability and Compatibility

The new apps are available for select model year 2024 and newer Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles equipped with Google built-in. The rollout has already begun, and eligible vehicles will automatically display available apps in a new “car compatible apps” section on Google Play. Passengers in select 2025 and newer GM vehicles will also benefit from automatic updates to their screens.

Models with New Features Include:

  • Chevrolet: Tahoe and Suburban
  • Cadillac: Escalade, ESCALADE IQ, ESCALADE IQL, and CELESTIQ
  • GMC: Yukon and Yukon XL

To access these features, customers will need to log into their Google Account and have an eligible OnStar plan. As the software continues to evolve, more features and capabilities will be introduced.

A Note on Safety

While the entertainment options are vast, it’s important to remember that drivers should not watch video content while the vehicle is in motion. Subscriptions may be required for certain streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu.

With these exciting updates, GM is set to transform summer road trips into unforgettable adventures filled with entertainment for everyone on board. So buckle up, hit the road, and enjoy the ride!
