Indian Duo Gukesh and Gujrathi Gear Up for SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Chess Tournament

World Championship challenger D. Gukesh is gearing up to showcase his skills in the faster version of chess as he competes in the SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz tournament alongside top players from around the world. With the Grand Chess Tour event set to take place in Singapore from November 20th, Gukesh will be looking to make his mark in the rapid and blitz formats.

Known for his prowess in Classical chess, Gukesh has yet to establish himself amongst the world elite in faster time controls. However, with the World Championship potentially coming down to rapid and blitz tiebreakers in case of a tied result, the Indian prodigy is determined to prove his worth in this aspect of the game.

Joining Gukesh in the tournament is fellow Indian player Vidit Gujrathi, who has received a wildcard entry. The competition, offering a prize money of USD 175,000, will feature nine rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess.

Top seed Fabiano Caruana, fresh off a dominant performance in Bucharest, will be a strong contender for the title. However, players like Ian Nepomniachtchi and Alireza Firouzja also have the potential to shake up the standings.

Other participants in the tournament include Wesley So, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Anish Giri, Levon Aronian, Ivan Saric, and Levon Aronian. Each player will be looking to make their mark and emerge victorious in the fast-paced competition.

All eyes will be on Gukesh and Gujrathi as they aim to make a statement in the SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz tournament and showcase their skills on the international stage. With the stakes high and the competition fierce, chess fans can expect an exciting battle of wits in Singapore.
