In a thrilling turn of events at the 2025 Tata Steel Chess Masters, GM Gukesh Dommaraju has taken the lead after defeating GM Leon Luke Mendonca in round nine. With this victory, Gukesh moves to 6.5/9, half a point ahead of GM Nodirbek Abdusattorov and GM Vladimir Fedoseev. Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, who began the day as a co-leader, now trails Gukesh by a point after losing to GM Anish Giri.
