In a dramatic showdown at the Ramakrishna Ashrama Ground 1 in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, Kerala showcased their resilience by overcoming a two-goal deficit to defeat Mizoram 4-2 and clinch the Under-20 Men’s National Football Championship title.
The match began with Mizoram taking an early lead, as Mesak C Lalrinngheta delivered a stunning long-range curler in the 11th minute. The momentum continued for Mizoram, with Vanlairamnghaka doubling their advantage in the 34th minute, leaving Kerala trailing 0-2 at halftime.
However, the second half saw a remarkable transformation for Kerala. Ajith KR ignited the comeback with a goal in the 55th minute, setting the stage for a thrilling finish. Sheril Shaji Thomas, Kerala’s star player, proved his mettle by scoring a crucial brace, including a stoppage-time penalty in the 95th minute.
