Iniyan Pa continued his remarkable winning streak, clinching his fifth consecutive victory in the Masters’ Section of the 360 ONE Global Chess Festival held at the World Trade Centre. The Erode-based Grandmaster and National Champion showcased exceptional mental fortitude, solidifying his status as the standout player of the tournament.

Iniyan’s latest triumph came against Ayush Sharma, allowing him to maintain a full-point lead over his closest competitors, Akash Sharadchandra Dalvi and Soham Kamotra. With 5 points in hand, Iniyan is set to face Kamotra in the highly anticipated sixth round.

The day also saw a significant upset as International Master Sammed Jaykumar Shete defeated third seed GM Abhijeet Gupta, who has struggled to find his form throughout the event. Second seed Sankalp Gupta faced similar challenges, succumbing to IM Srihari in another surprising result.

Iniyan’s match against Ayush featured the Nimzo-Indian Opening, where he quickly seized a positional advantage. Demonstrating strategic prowess, Iniyan opted to exchange pieces, simplifying the position and steadily increasing his lead.
