Indian Grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi and D Gukesh Maintain Top Rankings in Latest Chess Ratings

Indian Grandmasters Arjun Erigaisi and D Gukesh have once again proven their prowess in the world of chess, retaining their fourth and fifth spots in the latest rankings. Erigaisi, who recently achieved a remarkable 2800 ELO rating, has solidified his position as only the second Indian player, after Viswanathan Anand, to reach this milestone. Meanwhile, Gukesh, the 18-year-old World Champion, continues to impress with a rating of 2783.

Their stellar performances are a testament to India’s strong presence in the top echelons of the chess world. Alongside Erigaisi and Gukesh, legendary player Viswanathan Anand holds the 10th spot with a rating of 2750. Additionally, six other Indian players have made their mark in the top 50 rankings, including R Praggnanandhaa, Aravindh Chithambaram, Vidit Gujarathi, Pentala Harikrishna, Nihal Sarin, and Raunak Sadhwani.

In the women’s category, Koneru Humpy leads the Indian contingent with a sixth-place ranking and a rating of 2523. Despite facing tough competition from Chinese players such as Hou Yifan, Ju Wenjun, Tan Zhongyi, and Lei Tingjie, Indian players like Divya Deshmukh and Dronavalli Harika have also made their mark in the top 20.

With R Vaishali recently securing a bronze medal in the Women’s World Blitz Championship and Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa dominating the junior men’s category, Indian chess continues to thrive on the global stage. The future looks bright for these talented players as they continue to make their mark in the world of chess.
