Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh Makes History by Becoming Youngest-Ever World Chess Champion

Indian chess prodigy D Gukesh has made history by becoming the youngest-ever World Chess Champion at just 18 years old. In a thrilling final game, Gukesh defeated China’s Ding Liren to claim the prestigious title, following in the footsteps of the legendary Viswanathan Anand.

Gukesh, born in Chennai, India, began playing chess at the age of seven and quickly rose through the ranks. By the age of 12, he had already secured the title of Grandmaster, becoming the third-youngest in history. In 2024, Gukesh won the Candidates Tournament and led India to its first-ever Chess Olympiad gold medal. His victory over Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship solidified his place in chess history as a true prodigy.
