Mohun Bagan clinches RFDL 2024-25 title with victory over Classic FA

Mohun Bagan Super Giant emerged victorious in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2024-25, defeating Classic Football Academy 3-0 in the final. The star of the match was Pasang Dorjee Tamang, who scored a hat-trick to lead the Mariners to victory.

Tamang opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the box. He quickly added a second goal, taking advantage of a defensive error from Classic FA. In the second half, Tamang completed his hat-trick, securing the title for Mohun Bagan.

This triumph adds to Mohun Bagan’s successful season, with their senior team recently clinching the Indian Super League Double. Additionally, their U-15 side also claimed victory in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) Kolkata region.

In other sports news, India’s under-14 tennis team faced a tough loss to Iran in the Asia-Oceania WJT championship, finishing in 12th place. Meanwhile, at the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix chess tournament in Pune, Divya Deshmukh secured a win for India, while Koneru Humpy was held to a draw by R. Vaishali. The tournament promises exciting matchups in the upcoming rounds.
