North American Corporate Chess League Gears Up for Thrilling 13th Season

As the chess pieces prepare to move, the North American Corporate Chess League (NACCL) is set to kick off its 13th season, promising excitement and competition for corporate teams across the continent. This year, the league will be broadcast live on Chess.com, allowing fans and participants to engage with the action from the comfort of their homes or offices.

What Is the NACCL?

For over a decade, the NACCL has stood as the largest corporate chess league in the world, welcoming companies from the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Participants represent their organizations in a unique blend of professional camaraderie and strategic gameplay. Each week, competitors can also benefit from free lectures led by renowned chess masters, GM Kayden Troff and IM Gauri Shankar, enhancing their skills while fostering a sense of community.

Season Format and Schedule

The upcoming season kicks off on April 16, featuring six weeks of intense competition culminating in a playoff on May 28. Matches will take place every Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, with teams engaging in three rapid games (10+2). The innovative pairing system ensures that players from the same company do not face each other, and team scores will be calculated based on the top four scorers from each organization.

The top eight teams will advance to a one-day knockout tournament, with the championship match streamed live on the Chess.com Twitch channel. Last season, Capital One triumphed over Meta in a nail-biting finale, securing their second title in league history.

Prizes and Recognition

The NACCL not only celebrates teamwork but also recognizes individual excellence. Numerous prizes will be awarded, including accolades for the top eight teams, the best small companies, and various industry-specific categories. Individual players will also have the chance to earn recognition across multiple rating brackets, ensuring that everyone has a shot at glory.
