FIDE World Chess Championship 2024, Game 10 Singapore Live Updates: Gukesh D vs Ding Liren Ends in Draw

The FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 continues to heat up as Game 10 between Gukesh D and Ding Liren ended in a largely uneventful draw after 36 moves. Both players seemed content to settle for a peaceful result in what has been the most un-dramatic game of the championship so far.

Despite reaching the 20-move mark with plenty of time on their clocks, Gukesh found himself in time trouble early on, spending nearly 26 minutes on just one move. However, his move 10…Nh5 forced Ding Liren into a lengthy think, with the World Champion spending 25 minutes on his response.

Ding Liren, playing with the white pieces, once again opted for the London System, a strategy he has employed throughout the championship. Both players are now tied on points after nine intense battles, with neither able to break the deadlock.

The match has seen six consecutive draws, with Ding Liren yet to secure a win since Game 1. Gukesh, on the other hand, managed to level the scores in Game 3 but has been unable to clinch a victory since.

As the players head into their third rest day before resuming action on Saturday, the tension is palpable. If the match remains level after Game 14 on December 12, tiebreaks in the rapid format will determine the champion on December 13.

With experts suggesting that Gukesh is no longer the clear favorite to win the championship, the competition is wide open. Stay tuned for more updates as the World Chess Championship 2024 unfolds.
