Local Swimming Champions Shine at Asian Championship

Vannarpettai, July 27, 2026 — Two talented students from Vivekananda Vidhyashram Matriculation Higher Secondary School have made waves at the 12th Asian Swimming Championship held in Bangkok, bringing home a gold and a bronze medal.

Abdul Hafeez, a ninth grader, clinched the gold medal in the fiercely competitive 200-meter butterfly event, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination. Meanwhile, M. S. Nitheesh, a class XI student, secured a bronze medal as part of the 4×100 meter mixed medley relay team. Their remarkable achievements have not only brought pride to their school but also inspired fellow students and athletes.

The school’s chairman, Siva Sethuraman, along with correspondent S. Thirumaran, director S. Murugavel, principal A. Sreekumari, and the entire school community, celebrated the champions’ success with heartfelt congratulations.

Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls Excel in District Sports

In another display of sporting excellence, students from Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls Higher Secondary School in Thoothukudi emerged as overall champions in the “Vilayum Payir” district-level sports competition for classes VI to VIII. The event, organized by the School Education Department, saw nearly 500 participants from various schools across the district.
