Excitement is building as the 124th Annual U.S. Open chess tournament reaches a pivotal moment tonight at 7 p.m. EDT. After several days of intense competition in different schedules, all players will merge into the traditional schedule for the seventh round, where the U.S. Open Champion will be determined.

Currently, Julian Proleiko leads the traditional schedule with an impressive 5½/6 score, setting himself apart from the competition. In the six-day schedule, GM Jianchao Zhou stands as the only player with a perfect score, following a thrilling victory over FM Tanitoluwa Adewumi.

As the tournament progresses, the competition remains fierce, with grandmasters and talented players vying for the top spot. The four-day schedule also saw the emergence of strong contenders, including GMs Mikhail Antipov, Semen Khanin, Awonder Liang, and Varuzhan Akobian.
