Dvorkovich, in a statement regarding his suspension, expressed his intention to challenge the EU’s decision, labeling it “unlawful and unfair.” He emphasized the need for stability within FIDE, stating, “These sanctions could hinder the stable functioning of FIDE, and I have decided to voluntarily suspend my powers and duties as FIDE President with immediate effect.”
