April 27, 2023 — In a thrilling clash of generations, Women’s FIDE Master (WFM) Alexandra Botez is set to face off against four young chess prodigies in the latest episode of “Kids vs. Stars.” The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. ET / 22:30 CEST, and promises to showcase the incredible talent of the next generation of chess players.
Botez, a well-known figure in the chess community and a popular streamer, is no stranger to high-pressure situations. However, this time she will be up against competitors who are literally younger than Instagram. Representing the Kids team are WFM Ashley Qian, 13, the 2024 Ontario Chess Challenge Grade 5 champion; Kenneth Alba, a rising star from Mexico; WCM Larissa Mayorga, 12, a two-time Central American and Caribbean Champion; and 10-year-old WCM Abigail Zhou, the 2023 Pan-American Youth Festival Under-8 Girls champion.
