15-Year-Old GM Andy Woodward Sets New Bullet Rating Record on Chess.com! 🎉

15-Year-Old Chess Prodigy Andy Woodward Breaks Bullet Rating Record

February 17, 2026 — In a stunning display of skill and determination, 15-year-old American Grandmaster Andy Woodward has shattered the Chess.com bullet rating record, previously held by renowned player Hikaru Nakamura. Woodward’s remarkable achievement comes after an impressive streak of 25 consecutive wins in hyperbullet games, propelling his rating to an astonishing 3582—12 points above Nakamura’s long-standing record of 3570, set over five years ago.

The young chess star, who recently clinched victory at the prestigious Tata Steel Chess Challengers tournament, expressed his surprise at the record-breaking feat. “When I set the bullet record on Chess.com, I didn’t really pay attention to it being like a record or anything. I was mainly just trying to have fun, and it kind of came as a surprise,” Woodward shared in an interview with FM Mike Klein. “So it was kind of like killing two bullets with one stone.”

Woodward’s record-breaking journey began during an intense gaming session, where he faced off against opponents in a time control format of just 10 seconds per side, with a mere 0.1 seconds increment per move. This fast-paced environment, combined with the strategic use of premoves—actions that cost 0.1 seconds on the clock—created a thrilling atmosphere for both players and spectators alike.

After a brief setback against the anonymous player Boburjon314159, where Woodward lost on time in just four moves, he quickly regrouped and dominated the same opponent in the following 17 games. Despite his high rating, which limited his point gains to just two points per win, Woodward persevered, ultimately amassing the 31 points needed to break the record.

But the excitement didn’t end there. Following his record-setting victory, Woodward continued his winning streak, defeating another opponent, MeToooSlow, in all eight games played. In a nail-biting final match, Woodward was behind on the board but managed to secure victory as his opponent ran out of time, further solidifying his new record.

As he stands at the pinnacle of his chess career, Woodward shows no signs of slowing down. With the upcoming ChessKid Youth Championship on the horizon, fans and chess enthusiasts alike are eager to see if he will continue to extend his record in the coming days.

With his extraordinary talent and passion for the game, Andy Woodward is not just a name to watch—he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of chess. Congratulations to this young prodigy on his remarkable achievement!
