2024 National K-12 Grade Championships Winners by Grade
The 2024 National K-12 Grade Championships held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, were a massive success with over 2,700 players from 45 states in attendance. This event marked the largest K-12 Grade Championships in US Chess history!
Individual and team champions were crowned in grades K through 12, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of young chess players from across the country. From kindergarteners to high school seniors, competitors displayed their strategic skills and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Notable winners included FM Avi Kaplan from Lane Tech College Prep in Chicago, IL, and Arnav Gupta from Thomas Jefferson HS in Alexandria, VA, who tied for first in the 12th-grade category. In the 11th grade, IM Evan Park from DUP in Pittsburgh, PA, and IM Liran Zhou from Jericho HS in Jericho, NY, were among the co-champions.
Teams like Thomas Jefferson HS, American Heritage School, and Speyer Legacy School also emerged victorious in their respective grade categories, showcasing the strength of their chess programs.
