Registration Now Open for the 2026 North American Youth Chess Championship

Mexico City, Mexico – Aspiring young chess players from Canada, Mexico, and the United States can now register for the highly anticipated 2026 North American Youth Chess Championship, set to take place from November 10-17, 2026. The event will be hosted at the Hotel del Prado, located at Av. Marina Nacional 399, Veronica Anzures, Miguel Hidalgo, 11300 Mexico City.

This prestigious tournament will feature age categories ranging from Under 8 to Under 18, with separate sections for both Open and Girls competitors. Players’ eligibility is determined by their age as of January 1, 2026. Each category will engage participants in a nine-round Swiss tournament, with a time control of 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move. The first round kicks off on November 11, followed by a Rapid tournament on November 14 and a Blitz tournament on November 16.

Medals and Titles Await

Top performers in each section will be rewarded with medals, as well as the opportunity to earn direct FIDE titles and norms. This championship promises to be a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and gain recognition in the chess community.

Important Registration Details

Participants must register directly with the event organizers by November 9, 2026. Early registration is highly encouraged to avoid potential bank wire transfer fees and processing delays. The recommended deadline for registration is October 9, 2026, one month prior to the cutoff.

Accommodation Requirements

All players and their accompanying persons are required to stay at the official hotel to avoid a penalty fee of $200 per person. The hotel rates cover accommodation from November 10 to November 17, including three buffet-style meals daily, starting with lunch on the first day and concluding with breakfast on the last.
