The 2024 Tbilisi FIDE Women’s Grand Prix kicked off with a bang as Indian GM Vaishali Rameshbabu suffered a one-move blunder that cost her the game against Greek IM Stavroula Tsolakidou. The day’s other winner was Kazakh IM Bibisara Assaubayeva, who surprised everyone with a move one victory over Iran-born Spanish IM Sara Khadem.

The draw between Ukrainian GM sisters Anna and Mariya Muzychuk was not only predictable but also entertaining as they recreated a famous game in their matchup. The tournament, which is the first of six legs in the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix series, promises to be full of excitement and surprises.
