Are you ready to put your magical skills to the test? The 2024 Spell Chess Championship is here, and Chess.com is calling all chess wizards and witches to compete for the title of Spell Chess Champion and a piece of the $2,500 prize fund!

Spell Chess, a variant created in partnership with Supercell, the creators of Clash of Clans, has taken the chess world by storm with its enchanting spells and new tactical possibilities. Now, players from around the world have the chance to show off their magical prowess in this unique chess variant.

The championship kicks off on August 1 with eight qualifiers, where Chess.com members can battle it out for a spot in the Playoffs. Each qualifier is a 75-minute long arena with a 3+2 time control, providing a thrilling and fast-paced competition for all participants.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. In order to ensure fair play, participants may be required to join a video call during the qualifiers, where they will need to set up two cameras from different angles in the room. Non-compliance will result in disqualification, so players must be prepared to follow the rules to compete.

The top players from the qualifiers will then advance to the Playoff knockout, where only the best of the best will emerge as the Spell Chess Champion. Previous Chess.com Community Championships have seen top players like GMs Andrew Tang and Vladimir Fedoseev claim victory, so the competition is sure to be fierce.
