Recall Alert: Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Games Pose Serious Injury Risk
In a significant safety recall, Stoney Games, LLC, based in Bexley, Ohio, has announced the recall of approximately 151,600 Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Games due to a severe injury risk. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning on March 12, highlighting the dangers posed by loose high-powered magnets in the games, which could lead to life-threatening ingestion hazards for children.
The CPSC’s recall letter detailed the potential consequences of swallowing these magnets, which can attract each other or other metal objects, leading to serious health issues such as intestinal blockages, punctures, blood poisoning, and even death. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries linked to the product thus far.
The recalled chess games feature 24 small, loose magnets, each measuring between 0.5 to one inch wide and 0.3 to 0.4 inches high. They are packaged in a black box prominently displaying the word “Kluster” on the front. Each game also includes an orange string, an instruction manual, and a black storage pouch with “Kluster” printed on it.
These games were sold at independent game shops nationwide and online through platforms like Klustermagnets.com, Amazon.com, and Etsy.com from October 2018 to September 2025, with prices ranging from $15 to $20.
What Should Consumers Do?
If you own a Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Game, the CPSC urges you to stop using it immediately. Parents and guardians should remove the game from children’s reach and contact Stoney Games for guidance on safely disposing of the recalled magnets. The company is also offering replacement magnets that do not contain small parts.
For more information on the recall and instructions on how to proceed, consumers can visit the CPSC’s official website.
As safety remains a top priority, this recall serves as a crucial reminder for parents and caregivers to stay vigilant about the toys and games their children use.
