Urgent Recall: Kluster Magnet Chess Game Poses Serious Health Risks
March 17, 2026, 2:24 p.m. ET — Parents and guardians are urged to take immediate action as the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of the Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Game due to a significant risk of serious injury or death from magnetic ingestion.
The recall, initiated on March 12, highlights that the game violates mandatory safety standards for toys. It contains loose, high-powered magnets that can fit within the CPSC’s small parts cylinder, posing a dangerous ingestion hazard for children.
What’s at Stake?
The game includes approximately 24 magnets, each measuring between 0.5 to 1 inch wide and 0.3 to 0.4 inches high. These magnets can attract each other when ingested, potentially leading to severe health complications such as intestinal perforations, twisting, blockage, blood poisoning, and even death.
The Kluster games were sold in a distinctive black box emblazoned with the word “Kluster,” and also in a white pouch featuring gameplay instructions. They were available at independent game shops and online platforms, including Amazon and Etsy, from October 2018 to September 2025, priced between $15 and $20.
Immediate Actions Required
Stoney Games, the manufacturer, advises anyone in possession of the recalled game to stop using it immediately and keep it away from children. Customers should contact the company for guidance on how to safely dispose of the magnets and to receive replacement magnets that do not pose a choking hazard.
Fortunately, no injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with this recall, but the potential risks are severe enough to warrant immediate attention.
