Urgent Recall: Kluster Magnet Chess Game Poses Serious Ingestion Hazard to Children

Magnet Chess Game Recalled Over Serious Safety Concerns

March 17, 2026, 2:24 p.m. ET

In a significant safety alert, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Game due to a serious risk of injury or death from magnetic ingestion. The recall, initiated on March 12, affects approximately 151,600 units of the game, which has been found to violate mandatory toy safety standards.

The CPSC’s notice highlights that the game contains loose, high-powered magnets that can fit within the agency’s small parts cylinder, posing a dangerous ingestion hazard, particularly for children. The magnets, measuring between 0.5 to 1 inch wide and 0.3 to 0.4 inches high, can attract each other when swallowed, potentially leading to severe health complications such as intestinal perforations, twisting, blockage, and even blood poisoning.

The recalled games, packaged in a black box emblazoned with the word “Kluster,” include about 24 magnets, an orange string, an instruction manual, and a black storage pouch. They were also sold in a white pouch with gameplay instructions on the back. The games were available for purchase at independent game shops and online platforms, including Amazon and Etsy, from October 2018 to September 2025, priced between $15 and $20.

Fortunately, no injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recall. However, Stoney Games, the manufacturer, is urging customers to take immediate action. Purchasers are advised to stop using the recalled games, keep them away from children, and contact the company for disposal instructions and replacement magnets that do not pose a small parts hazard.

For further assistance, customers can reach Stoney Games at 800-362-0977, via email at klusterrecall@gmail.com, or visit their recall page at www.klustermagnets.com/recall.

As safety remains a top priority, parents and guardians are encouraged to check their game collections and ensure that any affected products are properly handled.

Stay informed and keep your loved ones safe.
