NHL insider Jonathan Ouimet of Markerzone recently weighed in on the situation, stating, “Connor Ingram is still sitting unsigned in August, and the Pittsburgh Penguins have exactly the kind of goaltending uncertainty that should be calling him.” He emphasized that Ingram’s steady performance last season could be a game-changer for the Penguins as they look to stabilize their goaltending depth.
The Penguins’ current goaltending situation is a significant concern, especially after losing Skinner to free agency. Adding a veteran like Ingram would not only provide experience but also address the pressing question mark hanging over the team’s crease heading into the 2026-27 season.
While the Penguins have yet to confirm any interest in Ingram, the buzz surrounding his potential signing continues to grow. Last month, there were speculations about Ingram re-signing with the Oilers, but those negotiations fell through, leaving him on the market. Sportsnet’s Mark Spector noted, “Connor Ingram goes to market. Negotiations with Oilers not fruitful. Would have liked to have remained an Oiler. This tells us Oilers have settled elsewhere on a netminder.”
