Rising Star Javokhir Sindarov Gears Up for World Championship Showdown

Bengaluru, India – As the chess world buzzes with anticipation, 20-year-old Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov is preparing for a pivotal match against Indian prodigy Gukesh in the World Championship this November. However, his schedule leading up to this monumental event is anything but light.

Sindarov, who has quickly made a name for himself in the chess community, is set to participate in a series of high-stakes tournaments, including the Grand Chess Tour events, the World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships, and the inaugural Daniel Naroditsky Memorial Rapid and Blitz tournament. He will also be competing in the prestigious Chess Olympiad, all while gearing up for the championship match.

In September, Sindarov will arrive in India to take part in the fourth season of the Global Chess League (GCL), a tournament that will feature a constellation of chess stars, including world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen. The GCL is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru from September 3-13, just before the Olympiad in Samarkand.

Notably absent from the GCL will be two prominent Indian players: reigning world champion Gukesh and fellow chess sensation Praggnanandhaa. Gukesh, currently grappling with form, is expected to make his next appearance at the Chennai Grand Masters in July, following his participation in Norway Chess earlier this month. His only other tournament before the championship match will likely be the Olympiad.

In a recent GCL draft held in Mumbai, Sindarov was selected as the icon player for the FYERS American Gambits, joining forces with his girlfriend Bibisara Assaubayeva and Indian GM Nihal Sarin, among others. After a season away, Magnus Carlsen returns as the icon player for the Alpine APL Pipers, a team that includes Anish Giri, Vidit Gujrathi, Divya Deshmukh, and Koneru Humpy. Five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand will lead the PBG Alaskan Knights, featuring rising star Yaagiz Kaan Erdogmus and India’s highest-ranked player, Arjun Erigaisi.

As Sindarov prepares for his upcoming challenges, the chess community watches closely, eager to see how this young talent will fare against some of the best players in the world. With a packed schedule ahead, he is undoubtedly honing his skills and strategies for what promises to be an electrifying World Championship match.
