Madurai, February 12, 2026 — Five-time World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand captivated students and parents alike during the inauguration of a chess workshop at Velammal Global School on Thursday. Drawing parallels between chess and language, Anand emphasized the importance of regular practice and adaptability in mastering the game.

“Chess is like learning a new language. One needs to keep practicing regularly and adapt to the changes,” Anand stated, encouraging the young participants to embrace the complexities of the game. Chairman M.V.
