GM Jeffery Xiong and FM Roee Aroesti emerged victorious in Qualifiers 5 and 6, respectively, of the 2024 Crazyhouse Championship, the final event of this year’s Chess.com Community Championship series. Xiong secured his spot on his second attempt, while Aroesti displayed persistence by participating in every qualifier before clinching victory in the sixth try.

Xiong dominated Qualifier 5 with 45 wins, zero draws, and four losses, showcasing his tactical prowess in Crazyhouse chess. His strategic queen sacrifices and precise gameplay led him to victory, making him the first grandmaster to qualify for the Knockout stage.

On the other hand, Aroesti’s perseverance paid off in Qualifier 6, where he outperformed 193 players with 49 wins, one draw, and six losses. His consistent top-three finishes in previous qualifiers finally culminated in a well-deserved triumph, earning him a spot in the upcoming Knockout.

With just two more qualifying spots remaining for the Knockout, the competition is heating up as players vie for a chance to compete in the double-elimination bracket. Will another grandmaster secure a spot, or will we see new Crazyhouse specialists rise to the occasion?

The Chess.com Crazyhouse Championship features a $7,500 prize fund and promises exciting gameplay as players battle it out in this unique chess variant. Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses towards its thrilling conclusion.
