Ngwalwa Village Hosts Thrilling Conclusion to AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026

DIMAPUR — The Ngwalwa Village Council Hall buzzed with excitement on Saturday as the AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026 wrapped up, showcasing the strategic brilliance of both seasoned and budding chess players. The tournament, which spanned from February 10 to 14, was organized by the Inter-School Chess Association – Ngwalwa Circle (ISCA-NC) in collaboration with the Nagaland Chess Association and the All India Chess Federation.

With 40 participants vying for top honors, the event provided a vibrant platform for chess enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills. The competition was meticulously overseen by chief arbiter Vekukho Soho, with deputy arbiter Mengise Haikam and ISCA-NC officials ensuring a smooth and fair tournament.

In a thrilling showdown, Vesho Doulo emerged as the champion of the premier Open Category, amassing an impressive 9 points. Following closely behind, Ilung Haikam secured the first runner-up position with 7½ points, while Icicang Haikam claimed the second runner-up spot with 7 points. Other notable players included Akangzang Haikam, Doson Isipeung, Kediteilungbe, and Kekuyisile Ilunglung, who rounded out the top ranks.

The tournament also featured age-specific categories, highlighting the emerging talent in the region. In the Under-11 Boys section, Tezeve Doulo took first place, with Ilungding Ilunglung and Reku Haikam following in second and third, respectively. The Under-15 Boys title was clinched by Iheibe, while Keyiharangbe Doson and Emran Haque secured the second and third positions.

In the Under-15 Girls category, Kelungheigumle triumphed, with Keyiziuna Nsa and Rulevelu Swuro finishing in second and third. The Under-19 Boys saw Mamnun Alom take the top honor, followed by Injamul Haque and Timothy Nsa. Meanwhile, in the Under-19 Girls category, Vekutolu Swuro emerged victorious, with Lungliaheile Hau and Kiebamsile taking second and third places, respectively.

Among ISCA players, Maciding Doson claimed first position, with Namyilungbe Hau and Haicigwangbe finishing in second and third.

As winners and officials gathered for a group photograph with their trophies and certificates, the spirit of camaraderie and competition filled the hall, marking a successful conclusion to this year’s tournament. The event not only celebrated chess but also fostered community spirit and encouraged the next generation of players to hone their skills.
